Optical Character Recognition

Optical Character Recognition

Optical Character Recognition,  (OCR) is the process of converting an image of text, such as a scanned paper document, into computer-editable text.

By scanning a document using Optical Character Recognition software, you get an image of the text. You can see letters made of pixels that together form a picture of text, but the text is not editable. This is where optical character recognition software comes in handy. The Optical Character Recognition software analyzes the image and converts it to editable text based on the patterns of the pixels in the image. Once this is done, the converted text is exported and used it in your business applications and databases.

Optical character recognition systems allow you to achieve a fully automatic information flow, improving accuracy and efficiency in processing documents, while preventing unnecessary losses. With a minimum of manual interference, the optical character recognition software automatically finds and extracts information from your documents, interprets the data and transports it into any computer system.
