Corporate responsibility

corporate responsibility

ReadSoft works to achieve sustainable development from a financial, social and environmental perspective. To accomplish this goal, we have a number of Group-wide policies and directives that govern our daily work. In our business concept, we describe what our customers can expect of us. Our values set the principles by which we conduct our business and our leadership philosophy describes what we expect of our leaders.

Together, these form the basis of ReadSoft’s corporate culture.

Social responsibility

ReadSoft’s social responsibility concerns work environments, society and human rights, fair trade, competition and compliance with laws and regulations.

ReadSoft is an international, listed company that is permeated by an open and familiar spirit. With approximately 435 employees worldwide, we have major responsibility for how our operations affect health, safety and social development.

ReadSoft’s responsibility to its employees is based on the Group’s core values, the Four Cs – Commitment, Creativity, Competence and Cheerfulness.

ReadSoft works to ensure that all employees feel they are recognized and play a role in providing customer benefi t. The international environment is attractive and many employees who work outside Scandinavia appreciate the Swedish character of the corporate culture.

Environmental responsibility

ReadSoft’s business concept demonstrates our desire to free businesses around the world from unnecessary paperwork. This contributes to reducing manual processing of paper and can thus reduce paper waste and work-related injuries by replacing monotonous tasks with technology.

ReadSoft thereby contributes to developing a sustainable society in the markets in which our technology is available.

Several of ReadSoft’s customer solutions contribute to reducing the use of paper, thereby cutting paper consumption. To optimize deliveries of our solutions as much as possible and thus minimize transports, each subsidiary maintains a stock of necessary packaging material, training materials and other materials.

However, our solutions are primarily delivered through an Internet-based link from the Parent Company, which means there is no impact on the environment during delivery and distribution.

Although ReadSoft does not conduct operations requiring registration or permits under the Swedish Environmental Code, its environmental work is integrated with its daily operations through the ReadSoft Environmental Policy

Direct responsibility for environmental issues is assigned locally to each unit. In accordance with our Environmental Policy, our aim is to:

  • Comply with all applicable environmental legislation and other environmental requirements in effect in the markets in which the Group conducts operations, Look after the waste we generate and reuse and recycle materials,
  • Ensure that our operations do not contaminate the environment,
  • Take environmental issues into consideration when designing and choosing locations for our offices, and Strive to always expand our environmental thinking and utilize the best established methods in our environmental work.

Financial responsibility

ReadSoft has a financial responsibility to create growth and profitability for all of its stakeholders. The objective is to increase the value of the company over time and thereby ensure sustainable development and long-term returns for our shareholders.
We contribute to economic development in society through the use of our products and by providing employment opportunities.

Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy

ReadSoft’s Code of Conduct should summarize the Group’s ethical guidelines. It includes guidelines on how regulations and laws should be followed, the individual’s rights, ethical business rules and rules against corruption.

The aim of the Code of Conduct is to emphasize the fundamental principles according to which ReadSoft conducts its business and manages relations with its employees, business partners and other stakeholders. Employees and all business units are expected to support, contribute to and maintain the Company’s values, integrity and responsibility. ReadSoft also encourages its business partners to follow these principles. The following international principles form the basis of ReadSoft’s Code of Conduct:

  • The UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights,
  • The UN Global Compact initiative, and The ILO declaration of fundamental principles and rights at work.
  • The Code will primarily be followed up through self evaluation.

Employer/employee relations

At ReadSoft, relationships between employer and employees are built on mutual respect, trust, communication and information. The company promotes freedom under responsibility and encourages a culture based on a sense of solidarity between the company and the employees.Work environment and employee satisfaction.

The direct responsibility for work-environment issues lies locally with each unit in ReadSoft. For ReadSoft in Sweden, there is a work-environment group that actively works to maintain a positive work environment.

As a part of our continuous improvement efforts, we conduct a global, web-based employee survey every 18–24 months within the company. The purpose of the survey is to identify potential areas for improvement and thereby build a more effi cient organization that preserves the company’s positive corporate culture and improves its results.

The most recent survey was conducted in October 2008. The results revealed that 97 percent of the employees enjoy working at ReadSoft, 88 percent have a positive opinion of the company’s visions and goals, and 90 percent believe that the company’s values, the Four Cs, provide an accurate description of and permeate ReadSoft’s corporate culture.

The survey also showed that our investments in training/career development in recent years have been received positively by our employees.

ReadSoft encourages the development towards increased diversity and, in accordance with ReadSoft’s equal opportunity policy, no special treatment of employees may occur in terms of employment or work duties on the basis of gender, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, political conviction or social or ethnic origin.
